C3 WASTE TO ENERGY (WTE) SOLUTIONS

Municipal Scale WTE
* The Municipal Scale WTE Problem

The world population continues to generate enormous amounts of waste, much of which goes to land applications that are not designed properly to hold waste. This causes many problems. Where trash is collected and disposed in landfills is mostly also very problematic. People make their livings off these landfills making their life expectancy very low due to infection and contaminated air. These landfills often catch on fire, further polluting the breathing zone of the local population. Methane is produced by decaying trash that is almost 30 times more potent a greenhouse gas than is CO2. Leachate from the decaying trash as well as the trash contents seeps into the subsurface water bearing zones and makes groundwater undrinkable because of the toxic leachate. The problems are both numerous and onerous.

* The C3 Municipal Scale WTE Solution

C3 has partnered with two technology firms that can fundamentally solve the environmental problems that municipal solid waste presents, and provide valuable side products associated with their technologies, like electricity, fuels, and agricultural amendments. One of the companies is designed for applications where there is 250 tons per day of waste to destroy or less. The other technology prefers somewhere between 300 and 3,000 tons per day (and possibly more) of municipal solid waste.

Industrial Scale WTE
* The Industrial Scale WTE Problem
Industry in developing countries often struggle with adequately removing and properly disposing of hazardous, biological, and toxic wastes as well as their trash. Because it is generally very expensive to properly handle and eliminate hazardous wastes, the disposal technique used by industry is very often land application. This solution not only significantly renders soil and water resources useless and a health hazard, but also has substantial negative effects on workers as well the local population.

* The C3 Industrial Scale WTE Solution
C3 has partnered with a technology company using pyrolysis gasification to neutralize hazardous substances without harmful emissions. This process generates electricity from the produced heat and can handle 25 to 150 tons of waste per day. The technology can also be adapted to meet specific industrial needs for heat or fuels. In addition, by combining the C3 Industrial Scale WTE Solution with the C3 Industrial Solar Solution, industrial parks are able to achieve both environmentally sound waste disposal along with sufficient green energy to power industrial parks of all sizes.

Residential Scale WTE
* The Residential Scale WTE Problem

In many poor regions of developing and third-world countries, lack of sanitation and cooking fuel poses significant health risks. According to UNICEF almost 60% of the world population either does not have a toilet in their home or does not have one available that safely manages human waste. That is about 4.5 billion people and of that group about 900 million people practice open defecation. According to the World Health Organization, 29% of the world population cooks with biomass or other polluting fuels contributing to premature deaths, especially of women..

* The C3 Residential Scale WTE Solution
C3 has partnered with a company that has developed a technology that consists of a toilet that effectively containerizes human wastes and collects the methane produced by that waste for delivery to a stove for safe cooking. The waste is eventually completely eliminated.

C3 FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS FOR WASTE TO ENERGY & SOLAR PROJECTS

C3 provides total waste to energy & solar projects solutions by bundling the C3 energy or solar projects with any needed necessary finance for project execution. C3 Finance is able to source appropriate financing from various types of funding sources.
Environmental Social Governance Funds. By using C3 ESG expertise to qualify a project for the requirements of Environmental Social Governance “ESG “funding, C3 Waste to Energy and Solar Projects are able to access “Green” funds designated by their fund managers as reserved for ESG qualified and often at favorable interest rates. ESG investing is a form of sustainable investing that considers environmental, social and governance factors to judge an investment’s financial returns and its overall impact. An investment’s ESG score measures the sustainability of an investment in those specific categories. According to the US SIF Foundation’s 2022 Sustainable Investing Overview, U.S. there are $8.4 trillion dollars in sustainable investing assets. See below link for background on ESG Financing.
Development Bank Funding & Commercial Funding. C3 thorough its innovative trade finance solutions is able to structure supplier financing and project buyer financing through C3 existing Development Bank relations to provide a significant potion of the needed project financing. For Central America, C3 focuses on the Asian Development Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank for traditional Development Bank funding along with ESG funding. The Development Bank Funding is in addition to normal commercial bank funding, which is also available through C3 Finance, but of course the commercial costs of funds is greater than the interest charged by the Development Banks.

Equity Funding. The final type of funding and also perhaps the hardest to source is equity funding. C3is also able source equity funding for its WTE and Solar project. C3 has the expertise to establish the Special Purposes Vehicle (SPV) to meet investor expectations for the equity financing necessary in any WTE or Solar project AND perhaps even more importantly source equity investors into that SPV.

Taken as a whole, C3 Finance through its expertise is able to source ESG funds, Development Bank funds, Commercial Funds and Equity funds to bundle with its WTE and Solar Projects for truly end-to-end turn key projects.
